Join Tulane Hillel and JP NOLA of the Jewish Federation for Shabbat with special guest Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie, known for his unique, energetic style as a prayer leader! Everyone 18+ is invited.
Rabbi Amichai is featured in the award-winning documentary Sabbath Queen, which Tulane's Jewish Studies Department is screening along with a Q&A with Rabbi Amichai and the film's director, Sandi DuBowski, moderated by JP NOLA Committee member Golan Moskowitz on Wednesday, October 14. But you don't have to see the film to enjoy this special Shabbat!
First, Rabbi Amichai will lead us in a Kabbalat Shabbat experience complete with singing and prayer, and transition us to the start of the meal and Shabbat rituals together. After getting to know your tablemates, we will have a special presentation from performance artist and Tulane grad student, Stuart B Meyers.
This event is free to attend, but we kindly ask that you register so we can plan accordingly and ensure there's plenty of dinner for everyone. We look forward to sharing this special evening with you!
